OVERVIEW
SCHAUM Architects—formerly Schaum/Sheih— is an internationally recognized architecture practice based in Houston, Texas with a diverse portfolio of projects worldwide. Beginning with an in-depth discovery and strategy phase, our assignment was to evolve the studio’s visual identity while staying true to its founding principles.
The identity reflects the practice’s ability to balance theoretical possibilities with the practical realities of building—two sides of the same coin. Designed as a flexible system, the identity mirrors how the studio and its collaborators engage across the full lifecycle of a project: adaptable, responsive, and grounded in structure.

At the center of the identity system: a kinetic logotype constructed from shifting isometric projections.
When extended, its letterforms resemble discrete architectural volumes—a field of possibilities.

When condensed, they cohere into a singular, improbable structure—delicate, deliberate, and balanced within an invisible grid.
Even reduced to one letter on social profiles the identity retains an element of movement and structural tension.
Select weights of the Diatype family from Dinamo are used throughout the system with it's Semi-Mono weight used for smaller scale functional text and architectural data.

With the identity anchored to black and white—a select number of bright accent colors were introduced for presentations and lecture materials.

The logotype never appears the same way twice, creating a living system rather than a fixed mark.

The studio's website and portfolio was reimagined and redesigned from the ground up.

For the patient visitor, a logo "screen-saver" is triggered after a period of inactivity.

A custom isometric version of Dinamo's Diatype was created for editorial use in branded publicatons by the studio.
